Personal branding looks at how pieces of work and a portfolio express personality and individuality while remaining clear to any one who was looking at pieces.

Other portfolio websites were studied to see how their branding and visual identity was built up. Looking at how colours, font and pictures said something about their site and in turn the person they were representing.
To start with, three words to describe myself and then three that I would like to see from my brand were thought up.

From there I went on to see if the words about myself could be applied to my site, giving it my identity and hence my brand.

Finding things that were personal helped to see what I was drawn too with respect to colour, shape and image, as illustrated here.
The next step was to come up mood boards. Bringing together colours, fonts and shapes that were relevant to my brand and hence beginning to build the identity of the site.

Looking at who the audience will be and how the site should speak visually to them, known as Tone of Voice, gave ideas on layout, font and media that should be used to come across as professional and interesting. Settling on a sans-serif font, laying out content in columns, for clarity and using both photo and video to help show off projects.
Colour theory and psychology has been a fascinating part of this project. Not only giving a better understanding of colours to use but what they say and the effect they can have on people.

Carefully looking at this and the mood boards, helped to come up with the final colour scheme, which gives the site a big part of its styling and visual identity.
The final colour scheme comprised three analogous coulours after deciding that a complementary pallet wasn't what was required.

Included in this are the Hex codes, so the colours can be matched each time, giving continuity to the site and continuing the branding throughout.
The logo is a big part of any brand, something that is instantly recognisable as that person, company or institution.

To come up with this, the decisions made earlier in this project were simplified and combined with an existing mark used on pottery work. After sketching and playing around with designs on paper and digitally a final design was reached.
